We’re literally in the middle of a worldwide crisis. The entire world has stopped and is being forced to slow down to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 virus. However, it’s not the time to stop making goals for your life and your business. (Unless you or a loved one is battling with this virus) Setting goals for your business during this time is extremely important to keep you on track and to give you something to aim for. It’s not the time to play small and play safe. The bigger the goals the better. At this time, all businesses should be planning how they can come out of this situation bigger and better. There is no need to be afraid of the future and going hard after your goals.
Always plan ahead. It was not raining when Noah built the ark. – Richard Cushing
The very first mindset shift you need to make at this time is to think BIG. I recall having a session with a client and she exclaimed “Wow, you really make me think big. It’s scary” However, by the end of our short time together she tripled her monthly sales. Simple tweaks to her marketing strategy and big thinking allowed her to surpass her sales goals.
When setting new goals for the next few months think BIG! Don’t allow fear to direct the goals you want to set. You know deep down that you deserve to have the life and business of your dreams! You know that you have the skills, knowledge, and talent to make it happen! You know that you CAN do it!
SO THINK BIGGER!
Here are a few tips on how to set those goals…
1. Create a vision board with pictures of all your dreams. This will give you the motivation to get your goals accomplished. Imagine how you will feel when you achieve those goals. Sit with this feeling, allow all those amazing positive emotions to fill you up. You can spend the first 10 minutes each morning looking at your vision board and reviewing your goals. It will get you pumped and excited to get your daily tasks done that will help you to reach those goals.
2. To ensure you are in fact setting bigger and bolder goals, ensure you take a trip down memory lane to last year. Get a notebook and go through each main area of your business and life and make sure your goals are bigger than the last year’s goals. Aim higher. In your notebook write 3 or 4 things that you know you’ll need to do in order to reach each goal. Each one of those key things can then be seen as “sub-tasks”, they help you break your goals down into more manageable chunks to reduce overwhelm.
3. The next step to accomplishing those goals is taking immediate action! Goals only become reality when you take action to get there. Take small actionable steps, and as you complete each action, be proud of yourself and celebrate each milestone.
It doesn’t have to be big it can be a new candle, a long bath with no distractions, a cup or two of your favorite ice cream … any little thing to acknowledge your hard work and determination.
Now go out and make it happen!
